The beach provides soft golden sands, clean sea waters and extensive tourist facilities, including cafes, restaurants, beach sports and water activities. Carcavelos is a vast and lively beach, and is the best location for a beach focused day trip from Lisbon.With the São Julião da Barra Fort dominating at one end, Carcavelos Beach is the largest expanse of sand on the Estoril coast and regularly hosts beach volleyball and football competitions.
It is the largest beach of the Lisbon-Estoril-Cascais coastline, with a sandy shoreline extending for 1.5km. The sea waters are far enough away from the mouth of the Tejo Estuary to be consistently clean, and are suitable for swimming or surfing in.
The sea temperature is always cold, being strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, and varies from a high of 18C (64F) in August to a low of 14C (57F) in February.

It is an Oceanic Beach located on the coast of Portugal - Iberian Peninsula - in the municipality of Sintra, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean.
The beach of Saint Julian , also known as Praia da Foz do Falcão , has an areal of reasonable dimensions. It extends for about 600 meters to the south, near the base of the cliff that rises there, in the form of a tongue of sand. Here, the sea is usually rough.
Access is from the town of Assafora , via Estrada de São Julião or through Estrada Municipal 546 .
Praia do Meco is a fairly remote beach located within the Serra da Arrabida national park near Sesimbra. It occupies a 4km stretch of coast to the south of the beaches of Costa da Caparica, around 40km south of Lisbon.
This long, sandy beach was largely undiscovered until the early 1970s. There was no vehicular access and nothing in the way of development. Around this time travelling 'hippies' from around Europe and the U.S. set up camp at the beach.

Costa da Caparica is a lively and modern resort town that is adored by the Portuguese, but virtually unknown by foreign tourists. The Costa da Caparica is a popular destination for surfing as there are always constant recent waves that roll in from the powerful Atlantic Ocean. These waves are suitable for beginners and intermediate surfers, as the waves are large but not massive – for truly great surfing head to the Praia de Guincho on the Sintra coastline or consider the towns of Sagres, Nazaré or Peniche.

Costa da Caparica is easily reached by bus. From Praça de Espanha the bus goes to Caparica centre. From here it’s a 5 minute walk to the beach.The direct bus from Lisbon to Costa da Caparica is the 161 service operated by Transportes Sul do Tejo (TST). There two departures from Praca do Areeiro every hour between 8:00 and 19:00. At the weekends the departure times are at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour while Monday to Friday departures are on the hour and 30 minutes past the hour.

Tamariz Beach (Praia de Tamariz) is a pleasant family orientated beach in the resort town of Estoril that is overlooked by a medieval styled castle. Tamariz is is the largest beach within waking distance of Estoril and is a good choice of beach during the busy summer weekends for visitors who do not wish to travel far from their resorts.
Praia de Tamariz is centrally located in Estoril, opposite from the Jardim do Estoril park and Estoril casino. The main train station of Estoril, Estacao Ferroviária do Estoril lies between the park so traveling from Lisbon is very simple. From Cascais the coastal footpath passes along the beach and is only a 15 minute walk.
